UPSL Announces Midwest Expansion with United Serbian SC

Founded in 1964, Milwaukee (Wisc.)-Based Club Will Join Midwest Conference

October 7, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce United Serbian Soccer Club as a new member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Milwaukee (Wisc.), United Serbian Soccer Club begins UPSL play in the Midwest Conference, and will host its games at the Saint Sava Soccer Grounds (3201 S. 51st St., Milwaukee, WI 53219) in compliance with UPSL's National Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "The UPSL is the most forward-thinking league in the country as the confidence in the UPSL continues to show with teams already joining for 2020. We're pleased to welcome United Serbian Soccer Club to the UPSL Midwest Conference. United Serbian Soccer Club has been around for more than 50 years and has seen the ups-and-downs of the game in America, and that sort of experience is crucial to our National League model. We wish United Serbian Soccer Club the best of luck as it prepares to kick off in 2019."

United Serbian Soccer Club is operated by its Board of Directors.

Mile Sever serves as President of United Serbian SC. A native of Milwaukee, Sever began serving as President in July following a one-year term as the club's Vice President.

United Serbian Soccer Club President Mile Sever said, "We are beyond excited to join the UPSL Midwest Conference for the upcoming spring season. Since establishment in 1964, our club has been an important pillar of the Serbian community in Milwaukee and has grown to become a major part of the Wisconsin soccer community."

Started in 1964 during the height of ethnic-based soccer clubs in Milwaukee, United Serbian Soccer Club is a three-time Wisconsin Soccer League Major Division champion, claiming titles in 1973, '80 and '94.

"United Serbian soccer Club has always competed at the highest level available, and takes pride in now joining a league of the UPSL's stature," Sever said.

United Serbian SC was the WSL 2nd Division champion in 2017 and currently plays in the WSL's Major Division.

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.
